Greenville cranks out 11 hits in MVL win over Fairborn Skyhawks

FAIRBORN – The Green Wave handily defeated the Fairborn Skyhawks 12-4 in MVL baseball action on the road Saturday at Fairborn.

The Skyhawks struck first with a 2-run first inning double to lead 2-0 over the visiting Green Wave.

Greenville battled back plating four third-inning runs with the big hit coming from a Bryce Blumenstock 3-run double. Fairborn tack on a run in the bottom of the inning sending the game to the fourth win Greenville holding a 4-3 advantage.

The Green Wave struck for four fourth-inning runs with Fairborn plating a run in the bottom of the inning giving the Wave a healthy 8-4 lead.

Greenville put the game away with four sixth-inning runs giving the Wave a 12-4 advantage with RBIs coming off the bats of Owen Mcgreevey, Drew Hamilton and Avery Ernst in what would prove to be the final score of the game.

Ricky Heidrich picked up the win for Greenville with the right hander tossing three-innings, allowing 4-runs on 3-hits while striking out three. Jackson Eberwein and Lance Greer pitched in relief to close out the game. Greer recorded the final three outs to earn the save for Greenville.

Greenville collected 11 hits on the day.  Brock Short, Blumenstock, AJ Shaffer, and Ernst each had 2-hits for the Wave.

The Green Wave defense was sure-handed in the field playing error free ball.

With the win Greenville improves to 3-1 overall and in MVL play on the season.
