GREENVILLE – A Green Wave 24-point fourth quarter fell short in a come-back attempt to drop an MVL varsity basketball game to the West Carrollton Pirates.
“I played a lot of guys tonight with different lineups,” said Greenville coach Matt Hamilton. “We can utilize different skill sets. We’re getting there. The crowd wants to see us compete, and we are doing that.”
Greenville put together a good team effort, led by Drew Hamilton’s 22 points and junior Johnny Barr’s 20 points.

West Carrollton took the opening period by a single point, 14-13, with Barr pacing the Wave with nine points.
Period No. 2 saw the Pirates put some daylight between the teams, outscoring Greenville 16-10, with Hamilton accounting for seven points, sending the teams to the break with West Carrollton holding a 30-23 advantage.
“The first half, their offensive rebounding killed us,” Hamilton noted. “That was the difference.”
The visitors extended their lead to 16 points, taking the period 19-20 to lead 49-33 after three complete. Hamilton led GHS with eight points in the quarter.
Greenville battled back in the fourth, led by 11 Barr points, with the Wave taking the final quarter 24-16 in coming up short in the Miami Valley League game.

“We’ll go back and look at the film,” said Coach Hamilton. “We’ll continue to get better and play aggressively.”
The Wave was 9-14 at the free throw line, while West Carrollton made 13-33 at the charity stripe.
Hamilton led Greenville and all scorers with a game-high 22 points, followed by Barr with 20 points.
