Greenville boys golf guaranteed MVL winning season with win over Piqua

GREENVILLE – The Green Wave varsity boys golf team needed a win over the visiting Piqua Indians going into Tuesday night’s home MVL match at Turtle Creek to guarantee a 2024 MVL winning season. The team earned the win, defeating the visiting Piqua Indians 168-189.

“Great win tonight,” said Greenville golf coach Brian Stickel. “Guys played well again.”

Drew Beisner and Josh Baker led Greenville with a 41 each, Hayden Null scored a 42, Kaiden Hickey shot a 44, Cole Oswalt a 45, and Carson Good finished with a 46.

“This team, you never know who will step in and pick up the Slack,” Stickel noted. “Drew and Josh played great. The second match in a row that Josh has played well.”

For the Piqua, Hunter Steinke led the team with a 41, Blake Walling a 44, Lance Lawson 52, Evan Clark 52, Arden Applegate 53, and Gabe Sloan a 53.

“My two freshmen, Hayden and Kaiden, once again stepped up and helped since Cole and Carson didn’t have their usual game,” Stickel said. “We continue to work at our game and hopefully get even better.”
