GREENVILLE – Carsyn Cole (4 years old) of Greenville was invited to meet several local heroes of the Greenville Police Department and Fire Department on Tuesday afternoon.
Carsyn, who has been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, was unable to attend last Saturday’s ‘Shop with a Cop’, was invited by Greenville Police Chief Ryan Benge to come to the department for a bookbag full of items and meet several officers.
As a bonus, Greenville Fire Chief Russ Thompson also welcomed Carsyn, who loves fire trucks, to stop over and climb into a fire engine and also get some cool GFD take-home items.
Young Carsyn was all smiles and was a day to remember. His mother, Tiffany Cole and grandmother, Shanna Smith were very appreciative for allowing Carsyn to have this experience and would like to thank everyone for making this possible.
“The children in our community are our future, and it’s crucial that we, as a police department, act as positive role models for them,” Chief Benge stated. “Building strong, lasting relationships with our youth will take time and consistency, but I am confident that we can make a meaningful difference in their lives.”
“The ‘Shop with a Cop’ event was a great first step, but it’s just one small part of the larger journey we have ahead. I am incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by every member of our team at GPD. Our efforts are shaping a positive future for our youth, and together, we can continue to make a lasting impact,” he concluded.
