GREENVILLE – The Green Wave dropped an MVL varsity football game to the visiting Fairborn Skyhawks 42-18 in Friday night action.

“Disappointed,” said Greenville coach Steve Channell. “We started the season 2-0. We were at home, and there was a lot of excitement. The last two weeks, teams have come out and they are physical with us, and they make us have to play.”

Fairborn took the opening kickoff for a 70-yard touchdown, and a second touchdown at 1:53 in the first had the visitors up 14-0.

The Skyhawks made it a 21-0 score at 10:16 in the second before Greenville, before Gabe Rammel rushed 3 yards for a Wave touchdown, sending the teams to the break with Fairborn leading 28-6.

“The crowd tonight was unbelievable,” said Coach Channell. “The support and the crowd of the community, everyone, parents, everybody, it’s been tremendous.”

“That has been so great to see because I know that hasn’t been there recently,” he added. “We’re going to continue to work, and I am going to continue to harp on all those little things that some of us want to listen to and some of us want it to go out the other ear.”
