George Young, age 78, of Gettysburg & formerly of Ansonia, passed away at 6:47 am Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Versailles Rehab & Healthcare Center.

George was born March 7, 1945, in Lima to the late Kenneth & Mildred (Green) Young. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jean (Stoltz) Young, whom he married December 24, 1964; son, Christopher A. Young; granddaughter, Brittani Young; brothers, Kenny Young II, Terry Young, and Ory Young; sisters, Beryl Hoggatt and Goldie Schaffer; and father-in-law & mother-in-law, George & Betty (McGlinch) Stoltz.

George is survived by his children, Dawn Young of Gettysburg and Darrin Young of Ansonia; grandchildren, Cody & Chelsea Thwaits, Cameron & Maggie Thwaits, Caleb & Samantha Thwaits, Austin & Lauren Ignaffo, Kyle & Kylie Young, Tyler & Samantha Young, Tayler & Kate Young, Morgan & Heath Sidey, Ashley & Tony Rammel, Derek & Kendra Young and Alice Young; great-grandchildren, Jayden Thwaits, Kohen Thwaits, Bentley Thwaits, Liam Thwaits, Easton Thwaits, Daxter Thwaits, Kye Thwaits, Addysan Thwaits, Greyson Thwaits, Aubree Thwaits and Maverick Thwaits, Beckett Ignaffo, Zoe Young, Cali Young, Layla Young, Landon Sidey, Lucas Rammel, Hazel Rammel and Wes Rammel; brothers & sisters-in-law, Larry & Jane Young of Union City, Ohio, and Gary Young of Union City, Ohio; sisters & brother-in-law, Jackie & Bill Gardner of Arizona; sister-in-law, Margie Young of Piqua; sister –in-law & brother-in-law, Susan & James Kammer of Ansonia; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Kenny & Caron Stoltz of Coldwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.

George served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from Corning Glass in Greenville. George was a member of the Ansonia American Legion.

A celebration of George’s life will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, November 3, 2023, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden with full military honors conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard.
