Gale Eugene “Big Chief” Daugherty age 74, of Ansonia & formerly of Arcanum, joined some of his favorite people in Heaven on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Gale was born September 13, 1948, to the late Ronald & Betty Daugherty and was the oldest of 8 children (Gale, Gary, Vicki, Dave, Bob, Larry, Dean, and Dan).
Gale spent his working years at Stephens Lumber Company, and he loved every minute of that time grading lumber, driving his old truck, and bossing people around. When the mill closed, he took a part-time job at CARQUEST in Greenville as a parts delivery person, which was right up his alley. He got to eat lunch with his son, talk and talk some more with the customers, and stop for a milkshake whenever he wanted.
Gale is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Margaret (Baker) Daugherty; his children, Angela (Eric) Heyne, Ken (Holly) Daugherty, Sheryl (Rob) Lear and Ron (Tosha) Daugherty; grandchildren, Chelsey, Katlynn, Hunter, Abigale and Daniel; and his grand dogs, Willow and Dodger.
Gale’s passion in life was his family. His life revolved around those he loved. He never forgot to tell them how much he loved them. He was the best Husband, Dad, and Papaw. He will be greatly missed by those that loved him and those he loved. He was the center of our world, and we were the center of his.
