As time goes on, it seems like I am reminded of my past and all of the friends, male and female, I’ve made over the years.
I bet I’ve met thousands of people who became or have become friends, especially during my journalism days. I attended numerous meetings, functions and interviewed people who I still talk to and I miss those who are no longer with us. Some have become like family to me and my son, Jamie, has his own following as well.
In my semi-retirement, I enjoy Facebook because that’s where I can keep up with a lot of those friends. In fact, it’s on Facebook that I have collected some thoughts on friendship and I’ve shared them as well.
Here are some of them:
“Happiness is meeting an old friend after a long time and feeling like nothing has changed.”
“I just want to say thank you to the few people in my life who have listened without judgment and loved me without conditions, You are special to me.”
“I may not say it enough, but I’m grateful for every friend who still sticks around.”
“There are friends in life and there are friends for life.”
“Don’t dwell on those who let you down; cherish those that lift you up.”
“You may forget the job, but certain coworkers stay in your heart forever.”
“We never really lose friends, we just find out who the real ones are.”
I don’t know who “authored” these quotes but they have made an impact on my life and accentuated my memory on days gone by. These were just recent things I found and shared on Facebook and I want people I have become acquainted with over the years to know that even if I don’t always get to talk with them now, that I truly like and/or love them.
I am sure I will be making more friends in what’s left for the rest of my future and I won’t object to that. It’s fun remembering the good old days. Jamie and I have had a good life and you know who we can attribute that to.
Jamie and I extend our condolences to the families and friends of: Gary Henderson, Galen Hackett, Barbara Shaw, Kimberly Bridges, Shelba Edwards Brown and Ronnie Barnt.
