PITSBURG – Congratulations to Franklin Monroe School’s 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Mindy Trick!
Mrs. Trick has been teaching at Franklin Monroe Local Schools for 31 years. Mindy has taught Intervention, 4th-grade math, 2nd grade and Reading Recovery in her teaching career at Franklin Monroe Elementary School. Mindy currently teaches Intervention and 4th-grade math. Mindy lives in Greenville with her husband, John. She has three sons and four grandchildren. She is a Piqua High School graduate with a BS from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton. Mindy enjoys spending time with family and friends and serving in Women’s Ministry at her church.
When asked about what she enjoys most about teaching, Mindy shared, “I love building relationships with students and teachers. I love to see kids get excited when they start to make connections as they are learning to read. When that light bulb goes off, seeing the shifts in reading often happen quickly and that is very fun to watch.”
When asked where her passion for teaching education began, Mindy answered, “My sixth-grade teacher helped me to see that school can be fun and educational at the same time. I think from then on I wanted to be a teacher. I never really considered any other profession”.
Mindy is also retiring this year after teaching for 34 years with services at Piqua, Troy Christian and Franklin Monroe. Mindy is our go-to staff member for advice or guidance in any situation. She is someone that anyone can turn to in times of need and always brings a great perspective to the situation. She will truly be missed by all students and staff.
Upon being named the Teacher of the Year, Mindy shared, “It is actually a huge honor. Every teacher in our building is deserving of this recognition. I appreciate my colleagues recognizing me in this way.”
Mrs. Trick will join teachers from the other county schools at a Teacher of the Year luncheon hosted by Darke County Educational Service Center on May 13 at Birchwood Learning Center.
