Frances Ann (Shaw) Nord of Greenville (87)

Greenville – Frances Ann (Shaw) Nord, 87, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, after a period of declining health. She was born on December 12, 1935, in South Paris, Maine, the daughter of Perley and Ada (McAlister) Shaw. 

Frances married Richard Nord in South Paris, Maine, on October 22, 1955. She was a dedicated homemaker and devoted wife and mother and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Frances served on the Board of Elections in Darke County for several years. She was a Session Member at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Greenville, Ohio. 

Frances enjoyed being a member of the Elite Book Club in Greenville for many years. She and Richard enjoyed participating in and hosting a dinner club with a group of friends, where she became known as a culinary extraordinaire.

Frances is survived by her loving husband, Richard, and two of her children, Jenny of Columbus, Ohio, and Kim and her husband Charles Brown of Alpharetta, Georgia; daughter-in-law Ann Nord of Spring Hill, Florida; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Frances is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Kathleen Ione Powell; her son, Daniel Nord, October 19, 2023, because of complications from an automobile accident; her sisters, Erma Ferrin and Ione Schutt; and her brother, Wendell Shaw.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church, 114 East Fourth Street, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Andrew Gilman officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church.
