GREENVILLE—Dave Knapp Ford & Lincoln want to make their customers happy.

That much is clear with the latest award the dealership recently received, the 2022 Ford President’s Award.

Although his dealership received the award, Knapp isn’t taking credit.

“It didn’t come by me,” Knapp said. “It came by my employees.”

The Ford President’s Award is one of Ford Motor Company’s most distinguished awards.

It recognizes dealers that achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction in their respective customer viewpoint (CVP) group.

To be eligible for the Ford President’s Award, Ford Dealers must:

  • Be franchised on or before January 1, 2022 and at the time the award is presented
  • Receive a minimum of 60 completed sales and service CVP surveys
  • Achieve 100% or higher retail sales effectiveness for combined car and truck
  • Achieve a customer experience index score greater than their CVP group score

The President’s Award is given to just 340 dealers across the nation from over 5,000 Ford dealers.

The award shows that the around 45 employees at Knapp’s dealership put customer satisfaction at the helm of their work.

“We really care about our customers,” Knapp said. “Satisfied customers come from satisfied employees. I try to teach them to be compassionate listeners to our customers, because they may come in with a problem that is small, but it’s huge to them. We’ve got to be compassionate listeners.”

While he still owns and runs the dealership, Knapp has slowly started to hand over the reigns to his twin sons Brad and Bryan.

He said he’s grateful to have them, and his additional employees, as the face of the dealership.

“It wasn’t me,” he assured. “It may have been a byproduct of me over the years, because you can’t just go out and say you want to win the President’s Award. Hitting the nail on the head and getting good surveys after their experience, it takes compassion and good employees who care about people. I got them, and I’m so grateful.”

Moving ahead, Knapp said he’s looking forward to their annual Ford Mustang Round Up car show this fall, and an expansion in their service department.
