DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ August 13, 2026 regular meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Combs and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from August 11th.
The examination and allowance of bills were presented and approved. The vouchers for August 12th and 13th were: General Fund $120,269.28; outside General Funds $297,645.48; for a total of $417,914.76.
Fund advances for the Darke County Grants Dept. were approved. First, for $94,115.10 for Patriot Engineering from the 2025 Brownfield Grant for 501 Gray Avenue. The next was for the 2025 Box Hangar Grant for Level MB pay app #11 amounting to $77,080.06, and the third was for the 2023 Ft. Jefferson Sewer Grant to cover Access Engineering for final design totaling $32,500.00.
A Fund Advance Back was next for the Grants Dept. from the 2023 JAG Grant, totaling $1,861.66.
The Airport and the Prosecutors office transferred appropriations for specific needs. The airport transferred $795.00 for the QT Pod Agreement, and the Prosecutor’s office transferred $ 1,200.00 for office supplies.
A Revenue and Appropriation increase for the Board of Elections from the 2026 Poll Worker Training Grant for $4,266.26 was approved.
The next resolution, authorizing the initiation of an amendment to the D.C. Zoning Resolutions to add a definition of Data Center and Data Center Regulations, was approved.
The Animal Shelter and Rumpke entered into a 3-year contract to dispose of solid waste and recyclables at a monthly rate of $147.40.
A Vehicle Maintenance Agreement between Darke County and the Darke County Fire Chiefs Association was approved. The County will maintain services and repair vehicles and equipment at the County Maintenance facility at 1144 Martin Street in Greenville. Shop rates will be reviewed annually and adjusted based on prior-year expenditures. This will occur no later than January of each year.
Darke County Solid Waste received three quotes for a new double cab truck. All three quotes, from Dave Knapp, Troutwines, and Hittle, were reviewed. After consideration, the quote from Hittle’s was accepted for a total of $52,442.00
A letter of support for the Ending Wasted Food Committee was signed by the Commissioners for the Ohio Association of Food Banks’ grant application.
Dena Weubker was introduced as the new OSU District 8 Representative. She will oversee educators and staff.
