GREENVILLE – A female is dead and a male is incarcerated following a shooting in Greenville on Thursday night.
At approximately 8:30 pm, Brianne Otley (34) was reportedly shot inside a residence at 750 Martin St. in Greenville allegedly by 25-year-old Zachery Gilbert, who fled the scene immediately after the incident occurred. Emergency crews arrived on the scene to investigate the shooting and to administer life-saving medical attention to Otley.
Otley was rushed from the scene by Greenville Township Rescue to meet CareFlight at an established landing zone at the VFW on Ohio St. Medics were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at 9:17 pm.
The Greenville Police Department urged neighbors in the area to shelter in place as officers and deputies searched for Gilbert, who was located blocks away from the crime scene at 10:27 pm.
Gilbert was taken into custody and jailed on a charge of Murder. He is awaiting an initial hearing.
The investigation is ongoing and will be reviewed by the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office.
