GREENVILLE – Greenville freshman Connor Feldner set a new single-season saves record for the Green Wave varsity boys’ soccer program in Wednesday night’s MVL match with the Sidney Yellow Jackets.
“Connor started playing keeper late last fall,” said Greenville coach Brad Feldner. “He started training over the summer, missed two games due to an injured finger, but he has done fairly well for us.”
Fledner broke the mark set by AJ Frens, a record of 255 saves that has stood since 2015. Feldner accounted for 25 saves vs Sidney, closing out the night with 271 saves.
“It’s good for younger kids coming into the program to see that they have a chance of setting records even as a freshman,” Coach Feldner stated.
Coach Feldner is looking for students interested in playing soccer for Greenville to join the team next season.
“Talk with Coach Clint Wright (assistant coach) or me if you are interested in playing soccer for the Wave,” said Coach Feldner. “We’re going to do some winter training for those who think they might want to play next fall. Just get a soccer ball at your feet and start playing around with it, and see if you like it, and we’ll go from there.”
