DARKE COUNTY — The 27th Annual Greenville Farm Power of the Past will begin Thursday with opening ceremonies, marking the start of a four-day celebration of antique farm machinery and agricultural heritage.
The event opens at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 9, with a flag-raising ceremony and official opening ceremonies.
“This will be our 27th annual reunion featuring Allis-Chalmers, New Idea, and Fractional HP Engines,” Farm Power of the Past President Chet Linebaugh said. “Looking forward to another wonderful show.”
As exhibitors continued arriving Wednesday, Linebaugh said the showgrounds were already filling with featured equipment.
“We have a lot of orange tractors, a lot of New Idea equipment on the grounds already for a Wednesday,” he said.
While weather always remains a consideration for an outdoor event, Linebaugh said organizers are prepared to adapt.
“The weather, we’ll play that by ear. We don’t have any control over that, but we’ll live with it no matter what it is,” he said.
In addition to the featured displays, visitors can expect a full schedule of activities throughout the weekend.
“Looking forward to a lot of good activities throughout the weekend,” Linebaugh said.
Linebaugh also expressed appreciation to the many volunteers and supporters who have helped prepare the grounds for the annual reunion.
“I want to thank everybody for their help and support with the show as we have been setting up,” he said. “It’s a labor of love to get everything done. Looking forward to a really great weekend.”
