GREENVILLE – Family Health Services of Darke County employees have embraced the spirit of giving this holiday season by contributing 400 gifts to Operation Christmas Cheer of Darke County, a grassroots initiative that has been spreading holiday cheer to local families in need since 2010.

This marks the 15th year of the program, which has grown from helping five families to supporting over 1,700 children in Darke County.

Operation Christmas Cheer began with the vision of a local family who wanted to bring Christmas magic to families facing difficult circumstances. What started as a small group effort has blossomed into a large-scale community endeavor. Volunteers, affectionately called “elves,” purchase items from a list shared through a Facebook group. These items are collected at designated drop-off locations and distributed to children just in time for Christmas morning.

Family Health’s contribution of 400 gifts highlights the organization’s commitment to making a difference in the community it serves and ensuring no child in Darke County wakes up without a gift under the tree this holiday season.

“The holidays are a time for joy and togetherness, but for many families, they can also bring significant challenges,” said Kelli Toy, a nurse who organizes Family Health’s involvement in this community initiative. “Supporting Operation Christmas Cheer is one small way we can make a meaningful impact in our community. I’m incredibly proud of the generosity and compassion shown by our Family Health team this year.”
