Fairboard Seats New Members and Elects Officers

GREENVILLE—The Darke County Agricultural Society Board of Directors met Wednesday evening to discuss its new members and elect board officers.

During Director Reports, Heidi May shared that she did not have to replace scales. Christoph Keller found someone to fix the scale for $120. 

Marla Werner made a motion to use the money they saved on fixing the scales instead of replacing them towards new chairs for the board members. The motion to spend $2,000 on new chairs for the board members passed with a no vote from Dave Singer, James Zumbrink, and Craig Bowman. 

Also during Director Reports, Dean Neff discussed the upcoming Firearm Raffle with MM Defense.  A Savage 110 Hog Hunter, Mossberg 835, Palmetto State Armory Admiral 1911, Smith and Wesson Shield E-Z, or Glock 43X for $20 a ticket. A Traditions Pursuit G4.50 or Cali Muzzleloader for $10 a ticket. Purchases of one of those tickets make you eligible to purchase a $20 ticket for a DPMSD DR-15. 

“We are doing 75 tickets per gun,” Neff said. “They’ll be able to buy the tickets here at the Fair Office and MM Defense. They’ll be able to go over to MM Defense to look at the guns.”

All local and Federal Laws apply. 

At the beginning of New Business, the newly elected board members, Christoph Keller and Apollo Perez, were seated. Jason Manning and Brian Rismiller are officially no longer on the board. 

During New Business, a motion was made by Dave Singer to increase a daily pass into the fair from $7 to $8. Dave Singer, Apollo Perez, Russ Skaggs, and Marla Werner voted yes; Curtis Yount, James Zumbrink, Craig Bowman, Christoph Keller, Heidi May, and Dean Neff voted no. The motion failed. 

Also during New Business, the 2024 fair dates were announced. The fair will take place from August 16 through August 24. 

Next in New Business was the election of Board Officers. Greg Pearson was reelected President. In a vote between Heidi May and James Zumbrink, Heidi May was elected Vice President. Lastly, in a vote between Marla Werner and Craig Bowman, Marla Werner was reelected Treasurer.
