GREENVILLE – The Great Darke County Fair gazebo at the entrance to the grounds got a facelift with head groundskeeper Rex Weyrick and fair caretakers putting in the work.
“Our head caretaker, Rex Weyrick, took on the gazebo and spruced it up,” said fair secretary Laura Ahrens. “Rex and his crew did a nice paint job, cleaned out the mulch, and put some river rock around the bed. It gave it a nice look, and we hope everybody enjoys it.”
“I pressured washed the outside and the floor and peeled all the old paint and stain off,” said Weyrick. “We picked the color of brown we liked and went through and painted everything brown and trimmed it in black.”
The removal of the mulch and the addition of river rock brings a crisp new look to the structure.
“That helps break up the bottom,” Weyrick stated. “Everything blends now.”
Weyrick and Ahrens credited groundkeeper Rick Eldridge and summer help for a well-done job.
“Our other caretakers pitched in and I appreciate all of them, they did a very good job,” Ahrens stated. “They pressured washed it; they dug out all the mulch, which took a couple of days, and fixed the bad spots. It looks really nice, and I am proud of the whole crew.”
