GREENVILLE – The Green Wave dropped an 11-4 MVL home game to the Xenia Buccaneers at Sater Heights Park.
“We played good ball for 3 innings, we were pretty solid defensively,” said Greenville coach Adam Eberwein. “Xenia’s pitcher throws hard and is very intense, which took some time to adjust to.”

The teams played to a 1-1 score after 1-inning of action with Greenville’s run coming on a Buccaneers wild pitch scoring Adam Edwards.
Xenia plated a run in the third and 3 runs in the top of the fourth to lead 5-1, a score that would hold up until the top of the sixth with Xenia scoring 2 runs to lead 7-1 with Greenville coming to the plate in the bottom of the sixth.

Greenville battle back with 2 runs starting with a Trevor Mardin hit by pitch, a Bryce Blumenstock full count walk, and a 2 run double off the bat of Owen Mcgreevey for a 7-3 Xenia lead with one inning to play.
The Buccaneers pushed 4 seventh inning runs across in the top of the inning and Greenville answered with a single run in the bottom, a Blumenstock RBI single

Greenville was saddled with 6 errors while Xenia limited its errors to 1.
“Unfortunately, we made some mistakes in the field mid-game that we were unable to recover from,” Coach Eberwein noted. “We are a good ball club when we play complimentary baseball. Success rates go up when all facets of the game come together. We have another nice weather day to go to Xenia and get one back.”

Braeden Wills pitched 3.1 innings allowing 3 earned runs, 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Mardin tossed 2.2 innings allowing 4 earned runs, 6 hits, 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Titus Eberwein threw 1.0 innings allowing no runs, 1 hit, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
McGreevey went 2-3 with a double, a hit by pitch, and 2 RBIs. Adam Edwards was 2-3 with a walk and a run; Isaac Kerg 1-3, 1 run; Blumenstock 1-2, 2 walks, 1 RBI, 1 run and Quenton Garner was 1-4.
