Hello, my name is Holly Daugherty, and I am running for a position on the Darke County Sr. Fair Board this year! I hope that you will consider electing me on Thursday, August 22nd. Voting takes place from 9AM-7PM in the Sheriff’s office building, located on the north side of the grandstands. You must have a voter’s ticket, which can be purchased under the grandstands. If you have a non-voting fair pass, you can exchange it for a voter’s ticket at the Secretary’s office NO LATER that Wednesday, August 21st.
As a little bit of background, I grew up in Arcanum, where I was involved in 4-H, FFA, and agriculture from a young age. I have worked in the agriculture industry for many years, and I currently work in the grain/feed business for Rowe Nutrition LLC. I have served for over thirty years as a 4-H advisor, and I have also served on several committees for the Darke County Jr. Fair.
I have two daughters who have also been very active in Darke County 4-H, Jr. Fair Board, and agriculture in general. We’ve been involved in the rabbit, goat, sheep, chicken, and beef barns over the years, as well as the youth building for various projects. My daughters have since aged out of 4-H, but I remained heavily involved in fair activities, simply because it’s important to me.
I’m involved in the community in other ways as well; I’m currently a member of the Arcanum Preservation Society, a non-profit organization devoted to restoring the Arcanum Opera House.
The Darke County Fair has endured many challenges in the past years, and it is up to elected officials to ensure that the fair continues to run smoothly. I believe I have the experience and determination needed to accomplish this. My goal as a Senior Fair Board member would be to create positive experiences for those who attend the fair, as well as those who exhibit projects at the fair. It’s important to me that the future generations of exhibitors and showmen are represented in the Fair Board decisions. After all, our children are our future!
If you see me at the fair, please come and say hello! I would love to hear your thoughts on how the fair could be improved.
