Edward L. Minnich, age 73, of Versailles, passed away at 6:40 am Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in the ER at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville.

Edward was born January 18, 1950, in Piqua to the late Donald E. & Barbara L. (Siders) Minnich. Edward was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn “Sue” (Mendenhall) Minnich, on March 17, 2017, whom he married on May 29, 1971, and a brother, Donald Minnich.

Edward is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Edward E. & Theresa Minnich of Versailles and Christopher & Caleshya “Taz” Minnich of Versailles; granddaughter, Tori Minnich of Versailles; brothers & sisters-in-law; Chuck Minnich of St. Petersburg, Florida, Douglas L. & Miriam Minnich of Bradford and Jeff & Angie Minnich of Versailles; and sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Mary Lou & Don Dowell of Troy.

Edward served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Francis Manufacturing in Russia with 41 years of service and worked at Eldora Speedway at the crossover gate for over 21 years. Edward was a member of the Versailles American Legion. Edward enjoyed dirt track racing, classic cars, and visiting Tennessee.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles, with Pastor Don Solin officiating. Burial will follow in Shooks Cemetery near Rossburg. Full military honors will be conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
