The recent weather –good or bad– has captured my attention, so much that I forgot Easter is getting that close to happening.
Then, I was asked to cover an Easter Egg Hunt at the VFW in Greenville, and now the holiday is becoming real.
It is always fun to watch children run around to find Easter eggs, whether it be in the house or outdoors and the hunt did not disappoint. Children seemed happy and so did their loved ones who came to watch.
There is nothing better than checking one of these hunts out. Hopefully, everybody got to hunt eggs when the weather was nice, like it was on Saturday morning. Then, as I made my way home, I saw another bunch of people at the Faith Baptist Church doing the same thing and learned that the Ansonia FFA put on its annual Easter Egg Hunt as well.
Yes, Easter will be next Sunday with lots of things, I’m sure, planned at many churches and at many homes in the area and across the nation.
The day, of course, focuses on the resurrection of Jesus, the third day after his Crucifixion.
Many families tend to dress up on that day with attire to include bonnets for women sometimes.
Then, the rest of the day, there are family gatherings in which egg hunts and possibly parades take place.
Why Easter eggs? According to one source, they are a symbol of new life and rebirth. The eggs are decorated with dye, glitter, paint, and stickers that will eventually get into the baskets of children of all ages.
One question I have this year is who could afford the eggs to decorate? There are always plastic eggs to use in lieu of the real eggs, and perhaps they will be used to put some candy or other treats into them
Then, above all, there is always the Easter dinner to share with family members.
With that, son Jamie and I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter.

Jamie and I extend our condolences to the families of Eileen Mescher and Karen DeMange.
