DARKE COUNTY – On December 16 at approximately 4:27 a.m. Darke County Deputies, along with Jay County Deputies, Southwest Mercer Fire Department, Union City Rescue, and CareFlight, were dispatched to the 14700 block of Ohio Indiana State Line Road, Fort Recovery, Ohio 45846, in reference to an accident with injury.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2012 Nissan Altima operated by Cydney Smith (22) of Salomonia, Indiana, was traveling north on Ohio Indiana State Line Road. Ms. Smith’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert before overturning and coming to rest into a utility pole. Smith was able to free herself from the vehicle.
Smith was ultimately transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight for her injuries but has since been released. The accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
