DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Seniors were present at the America 250 Celebration at the Greenville City Park on July 5th, providing free lemonade, tea, and information about their upcoming July events. Free temporary tattoos were a hit for kids and adults. And DCS Line Dancers exhibited their love of music and dance.
In order for the organization to plan most events appropriately, a registration deadline (RSVP by), prepayment of any associated fee must also be paid by that date. Upcoming events that have registration deadlines include.
RSVP by 7/16 for the Lunch and Learn event offered by and held at the Brethren Retirement Community at 750 Chestnut Street on Thursday, July 23rd at noon. There is no fee for this event. Simply RSVP by July 16th and on the 23rd, enter through the front doors of the Brethren Retirement Center and you will be invited to a hot lunch. A “chocolate walk” will follow as we tour the main building. Come see what makes BRC a unique place to call home.
RSVP by 7/17 for the first “Monthly Mystery Lunch”, which will be held on July 24th. Meet at the Senior Center at 11:30 am. This inaugural event will occur on the fourth Friday of each month.
The destination changes each month and will remain a surprise until arrival, unless you figure it out from the clues posted at the Senior Center and on Facebook. The group will use Greenville Transit for trips within the county and carpool to destinations outside Darke County. All lunch locations will be less than one hour away. NOTE: When riding the transit, a form needs to be completed ahead of time.

Each person will be responsible for their own meal with prices ranging from $10-15. Join other seniors on a trip to a “mystery” location for lunch. Bring your Senior membership card because there may be a discount. Clues for this first mystery lunch include:

RSVP by 7/18 to participate in the Annie Oakley Day Parade. Darke County Seniors is proud to be part of this event. Whether you would like to ride on the float, walk, or line dance behind it, we invite you to join the fun and show the community that seniors are active and know how to enjoy themselves.
RSVP by 7/18 to help with our booth at the Gathering at the Garst. Saturday, July 25, 10 am – 6 pm, with setup at 9 am, and Sunday, July 26, 11 am – 5 pm, with tear-down afterward. Sign up if you can help; volunteer slots will be available both days. We will sell $5 raffle tickets for the America 250 quilt, share information about the Senior Center and its upcoming events, and offer temporary patriotic tattoos for children.

The DCS office is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Birchwood Senior Center, 5844 Jaysville-St. Johns Rd., Greenville. Adults aged 55 and older with a valid membership may attend events. To join, complete a membership form and pay the $2 annual dues.
