Decolores Montessori students attend Darke County Science Day

GREENVILLE – The Decolores Montessori School in Greenville, Ohio, attended the Darke County Science Day hosted by Greenville High School on February 27.

Eighth and ninth-grade students prepared projects for the event. Thirty-three students participated from various schools across Darke Country, including the following students from Montessori… Teagan Brock, Conner Feldner, Jonathan Conway, Christina Conklin, Dean Davis, Nalayna Miley, Caleb Miller, Eli Pence, Tara Seger and Ben Weigand.

The Decolores Montessori students did an amazing job presenting, with seven students receiving “Superior” ratings. Those receiving “Superior” ratings were Jonathan Conway, Nalayna Miley, Conner Feldner, Christina Conklin, Caleb Miller, Tara Seger and Ben Weigand. Teagan Brock, Dean Davis and Eli Pence received “Excellent” ratings.

All Decolores students participating in the science day will advance to the UMC Regional Science Day at Edison Community College on March 8, 2025. Not only did Decolores students receive top ratings, but they also won prize money, which was sponsored by area businesses and families.

Prizes were awarded to the following:

Connor Feldner – 2nd – BASF Outstanding Award in Animal Science. Honorable mentions – Teagan Brock and Eli Pence.
Nalayna Miley – 1st – BASF Outstanding Award in Chemistry, Material Science, Energy, and Physics. Dean Davis 2nd.
Jonathan Conway – 2nd for the Whirlpool Award in Computer Science
Ben Weigand – 2nd – Garman Miller Award in Engineering
Caleb Miller – 1st – Wayne Healthcare Award in Medicine, Health Sciences, and Microbiology. Tara Seger 3rd. Honorable Mention Christina Conklin.
Nalayna Miley – BASF Award for Best Presentation of Data
Ben Weigand – Spirit of Science Award
Nalayna Miley – Spirit of Winning Award
BASF Grand Prize – Caleb Miller
