Until I get my mobility issues corrected, if that’s possible, I plan to keep working from home for My County Link…on columns especially.
I hate to do that, but I want to get feeling better during this hiatus.
I wouldn’t mind one-on-one interviews, with me sending questions to potential subjects of human interest stories, but I would have to turn down meetings and large-attendance events.
I do have a cane and a walker, but I don’t like using them much out in public for fear of losing my balance and embarrassing myself.
Another reason is that I would have to keep my mind on these items, all the while handling a camera, a notepad, a pen and not to mention a handbag to hold some of my stuff while my hands are busy manipulating the cane and walker.
Hopefully, in the near future, my issues will get resolved and I will feel better prepared to get back out into the public. That would be ideal.
When I was young and in my prime, I covered many events across Darke County, especially the Great Darke County Fair. I’ve also covered Annie Oakley Days, Bradford Pumpkin Show, festivals in North Star, Gettysburg, Rossburg, New Weston, Rossburg, New Madison, Hollansburg, Palestine, and Union City and probably more places that I’ve failed to recall.
That, I am sure, is what contributed to my physical problems now. But, in a way, I don’t regret it. I have met many wonderful people over the years by taking part in these functions and I will be missing out on this during my hiatus, but I hope people will understand.
Until we see each other again, enjoy yourselves and have fun at these family-focused events. I will be thinking of you.

Remember when I talked about our class reunion for 2026 on here in my last column? Classmate Barb Baker Teaford informed me that the Ansonia American Legion has reserved that venue for us on May 22, 2026.
“Other details are yet to be determined,” Barb said.
I will keep people informed here as to what is going to transpire.
