DARKE COUNTY – For the month of September, we are proud to recognize Mikey Shoenleben, who is celebrating seven years with Rural King.
If you know Mikey, you know he brings a big personality, a great sense of humor, and a genuine love for connecting with people. Those qualities shine through every day in his work at Rural King Supply.
Mikey’s responsibilities range from caring for plants and assisting customers with their purchases to maintaining the store and supporting his team with daily tasks. Yet, what he enjoys most about his role is interacting with people—both customers and co-workers.
A truly dependable employee, Mikey rarely misses a shift and can often be seen riding his bike to work, rain or shine. For him, this job represents much more than a paycheck; it provides a sense of independence, pride, and belonging. He credits his strong relationships with his managers and teammates as a big part of what makes his work so meaningful.
Recently, Mikey has also enjoyed reconnecting with his high school friend Cory, who now works alongside him at Rural King.
Outside of work, Mikey stays busy with a wide variety of activities. He is active in sports such as softball, bowling, golf, and basketball. He participates in the Next Chapter Book Club, dances with Final Bow Center for Children’s Performing Arts, and enjoys spending time with friends. Mikey also gives back to the community through volunteer efforts with Darke County Aktion Club and his outreach group with Moe—dedicating countless hours to service.
Always smiling and ready with a positive word, Mikey is known for making everyone feel welcome. Next time you stop into Rural King, be sure to grab some popcorn and say hello!
