Greenville-David John Leis of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. He was born on August 30, 1949, in Ansonia, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Lewis Leis, and mother, Corrine Louise (Monks) Leis. He graduated from Ansonia High School in 1968 and was a leading member of the Ohio Future Farmers of America.

Throughout his life, he was a professional Jazz musician with the Johnny McCoy Orchestra and played with musicians like Miles Davis. He was a Master Craftsman of David Leis Construction and a Professional Agriculturalist. He worked at Corning Glass Inc for 20 years as a Hot End Operator. After his years of service at Corning Glass, he was an Owner Operator of his own Trucking Service.

David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie Jean (Rainey) Leis of Union City, Indiana, and his sister Susan (Dean) Butts of Greenville, Ohio, and brother, Steve (Jan) Leis of Ansonia, Ohio. He is also survived by his 2 children, Darren (Staci) Leis of Mckee, Kentucky, and Cara (Paul) Mazur of Oakville, Ontario, Canada. David has 5 grandchildren; D’Artagnan, John, Abygail, Darren Jr., and Annebeth Leis.

The family will receive all those who would like to partake in the remembrance of David Leis at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville on Friday, July 7, from 5-8 p.m., as well as Saturday, July 8, from 9-10 a.m. prior to service at 10 a.m. Service will be provided by Rev. Alisa Beisner officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
