David E. Townsend, age 70 of Union City, Ohio passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in Cherokee, North Carolina. Dave was born February 6, 1954 in Union City, Indiana and the son of the late Harold E. and Doris J. (Winterrowd) Townsend.
He was a heavy equipment operator from the time he took instruction from his Father at the age of 10 years until his retirement. He loved to travel on the Harley which took him to 39 states as well as Quebec and Ontario.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Jane Townsend-Smith; brother-in-law Michael L. Smith and father-in-law Robert E. Barnum.
Dave is survived by his Beloved Wife of 51 years Marcia K. (Barnum) Townsend; devoted Father to Mathew D. Townsend and Mason C. (Andrea) Townsend; proud Papaw to Cierra, David, Cole (Kiara) Gracie, Madison and Mackenzea; great-grandchildren Alaina and Delilah; brother-in-law Lyle (Ruth) Barnum; sister-in-law Linda (Nick) Palmer; mother-in-law Jean (E.J.) Byram as well as numerous nieces and cousins.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
