NEW WESTON – Jonathan Davenport won the 100-lap Dream finale at Eldora Speedway on Saturday night. He started way back in 13th place but quickly moved up the field, passing five cars right after a restart and working his way to the front. By the end, he crossed the finish line more than half a lap ahead of everyone else.
“I love taking Tony’s money for sure,” Davenport said. “This place is just awesome. It’s the only place you can come to, I feel like if you’ve got the best race car, you can win no matter where you start when the track is right.”
Davenport used the bottom lane to get past other drivers and took the lead with 61 laps to go and stayed strong through multiple cautions.
Bobby Pierce finished second after having to pit to fix a flat tire during the race. Even with the setback, he fought back from last to second in the final laps.
“It’s honestly a blessing the tire went flat, I knew I was probably killing them,” Pierce said. “ All in all, an awesome rebound for us tonight.”
Nick Hoffman came in third after some early trouble knocking his spoiler off, but managed to get it fixed and run well the rest of the race.
Tim McCreadie and Devin Moran rounded out the top five.
