Darke County Summer Stampede Fills Grandstand

Darke County Summer Stampede and Food Truck Rally draws large crowd to local fairgrounds

GREENVILLE – The Darke County Summer Stampede Rodeo and Food Truck Rally drew large crowds to the Darke County Fairground along with live entertainment throughout the day.

A slow start to the day saw the attendance pick up later in the day making for a very successful Darke County event according to event promoter, Jason Blackburn.

“It was a little slow during the day but it started picking up around 4 p.m. and by 5 p.m. the crowd really started coming in” Blackburn noted, “and definitely by the time the rodeo started we had a full crowd.”

“We are always praying a fasting for these days,” added Blackburn. “We are asking God for his protection, making sure everyone stays safe as well for the event.”

The event featured 15 food trucks, craft vendors, pony rides, petting zoo, live music all day in the gazebo and over $1,000 in prize giveaways.

The award winning 3-J Ranch and Rodeo took the stage with contestants from all over the country and Canada. Double sanctioned rodeo with the IPRA (International Professional Rodeo Association) and the MSRA (Mid States Rodeo Association) competing in 8 events including: team roping, bareback, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping, barrel racing, tie down roping, steer wrestling and bull riding.

“I just want to thank our church, Solid Rock Apostolic Church in Bradford, OH,” said Blackburn. “They help with the setup, cleanup, just everything and I would like to thank the fair board for allowing us to be at the fair.”
