Darke County Senior’s potluck lunch, general meeting and more events scheduled

DARKE COUNTY – As April draws to a close, the Darke County Seniors Board wants to remind all seniors of the upcoming Potluck Lunch and General Meeting to be held on Thursday, April 30th, beginning at 12:30 pm in the Birchwood Room. The Board hopes for a good turnout, as this event will be a wonderful chance to socialize, learn more about your Senior Center, ask questions and become a member if you haven’t already.

To participate, sign up at the Senior Center or text Wally (508) 789-3884 or Mary at (937) 423-2565. Bring your favorite dish to share, the center will provide the place setting. Following the meal, there will be a general meeting in which the board will be available for questions and suggestions as they share their goals and aspirations for the Senior Center.

The Darke County Senior Center is located at 5844 Jaysville-St. Johns Road, Greenville. The center has been established for anyone aged 55+ with the primary goal of promoting independence, supporting healthy aging, preventing social isolation, and providing access to fitness classes, nutritional education, crafts, movies, entertainment, and games, including bingo, Mahjong and cards.

Many events offered to the senior sect are free or greatly reduced. That does not mean the instructors, classes, or presenters are free for the center, it only means that the costs are being absorbed by the center’s fundraisers, community donations, and an occasional grant. All these events and benefits are brought about by the relentless efforts of the board members who are constantly donating their time to fundraising and seeking events pertinent to the member base.
