GREENVILLE – Don’t miss the Darke County Seniors at the Holiday Horse Parade on Saturday, November 22. They will be on Third Street by Bach to Rock, before the parade begins, to promote awareness and raise contributions by offering an enticing assortment of homemade goodies and hot chocolate. Drop by, say hello, pick up a snack or drink and enjoy the parade.
With November almost over, the Darke County Seniors Board wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and would like to remind everyone that the Birchwood Senior Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and throughout the weekend.
The December calendar is out with fun and festive featured events, such as the special crafting project “Painting Ornaments with Leo,” on Tuesday, December 2nd, from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. This activity requires an RSVP by November 25th by calling or texting Wally at (508) 789-3884 or Mary at (937) 423-2565. Leo is providing each registered person with a wooden ornament of their choosing to paint and decorate for themselves. Supplies and guidance will be provided.
On Thursday, December 4th, a caravan will be heading to Carrillon Park to see Carillon Historical Park’s 65-acre campus transformed into a winter wonderland of sparkling lights, decorations, and holiday magic. See the Carillon Tree of Light, Santa Claus, Gem City Letterpress, model train displays and much more. Admission is $12 for seniors. Those who go may want to plan for an optional train ride ($5) and the Carrillon Brewing Company will be open for an optional meal ($15-20). Other places for snacks and drinks will include the Christmas Café, Morris and Hetzel Bakery, Culp’s Café,’ Roundhouse Café, and shopping at the Museum.
We will be leaving Birchwood at 3:30 pm. Be a driver, invite friends to fill your car for the trip or let us know if you need a ride and we will do our best to accommodate. Meet at the main entrance at 5:00 pm for a group photo. The park closes at 9:00 pm.
Beginner Tai Chi will be offered every Monday (except 12/30) from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Those interested must take this series of classes before advancing to Tai Chi 2.
