GREENVILLE – Friday evening, the Darke County Junior Fair Dog Department named their 2024 Canine Royalty.
Each contestant must fill out an application and submit it for review. Both contests are similar, however, they come with some differences. King and Queen applicants are assigned a random dog by simply drawing a name to complete a showmanship pattern to then be scored by a selected judge. Prince and Princess applicants use their own dogs to also complete a showmanship pattern.
Next, each contestant conducted a small interview. King and Queen contestants are asked two random questions and have between three to five minutes to answer. Prince and Princess contestants are asked one random question and have between one and two minutes.
After competing in showmanship in their respective groups, the selected judge then completes their scoresheets and selects the contestants with the highest amount of points.
The announcement is then made following the tabulation of scores on Friday night.
Your 2024 Darke County Junior Fair Canine Royalty Court is the following:
Brookelynn Louis – Princess
Beckett Bolton – Prince
Bailey Haworth – Queen
Elijah Evans – King
“We have a new facility and we’re excited for the rest of the fair,” said Canine Queen, Bailey Haworth.
This group will have the opportunity to help run the shows throughout the duration of the fair. They will also help with passing out awards and any tasks that may be needed.
“It’s super exciting,” said newly crowned Canine Prince, Beckett Bolton.
Congratulations to all the contestants for having the courage to compete amongst their peers and good luck to the 2024 Darke County Junior Fair Canine Royalty Court.
