DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ regular February 19, 2026, meeting started at 9:30 a.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from February 17, 2026.
The Examination and Allowance of bills dated February 19 were presented. The General Fund amount was $276,698.32, and the Outside General Funds were $293,448.09, totaling $570,146.41. They were approved.
Darke County Grants presented an agreement for a post-Asbestos Abatement Inspection with Turn Key Environmental for three properties for $975.00, which was approved.
Darke County Veterans submitted an expense request for Tom Pitman and Var Gehron to attend the annual NACVSO conference in Reno, Nevada, May 30 – June 6, totaling $7,330.00. It was approved.
Darke County Grants set a date for the 2026 Street improvements bids for New Weston. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. was set, and bids will be opened at 1:30 p.m. The project completion date is July 31, 2026.
The Grants Dept. had three fund advances presented. First, the 2025 FAA Box Hangar Grant for $532,506.87, then $4,500.00 for Choice Engineering’s preliminary report for the Gordon/Ithaca Sewer Grant. Finally, $2,000.00 for Choice One’s preliminary report for the Castine Sewer Grant was approved.
Service equipment for the Courthouse Boiler with Solid Blend Water Management Solutions, totaling $7,274.60, was presented to the Commissioners and approved. Treatment service for the boiler was approved for $6,000.00
Darke County Grants and Level MB LLC had three change orders for the airport hangar. One was to upgrade the PVFD paint finish, another to add additional insulation above the OBC energy code, and then add a concrete sidewalk at the southeast corner of the hangar. Total Changes were $58,503.16 and were approved.
The Commissioners and the Grants dept. had a Revenue and appropriation decrease of $26,888.19 for the 2024 Sheriff JAG Grant.
Darke County Grants had a fund advance back (a good thing!) from the 2024 Airport Terminal Fuel Tank Demo Grant totaling $104,946.50.
Revenue and Appropriation increases for the Castine Sewer Grant were approved for Darke County grants totaling $8,000.00.
The Sheriff had an expense request for Greg Fourman, Kelly Moody, Alan Yount, Dan Stockslager, Mickala Powell, Shawn Trissel, and Stephen Cox to attend the School Safety and Security Trilogy series online from August 12th to 20th. The total was $700.00.
The Monthly Inventory report of obligations and Securities for Jan. 20, 2026 were presented for journal entry.
