Darke Co Board of Elections moves operations

GREENVILLE – The Board of Elections looks forward to serving Darke County from the new Wagner Ave location starting August 31st, 2026.

The Darke County Board of Elections has officially announced plans to relocate its office and public service facility to 603 Wagner Avenue in Greenville. The move positions the county’s election operations in a prominent educational and civic hub, situated directly between the Ohio State University Extension office and Edison State Community College.

The strategic relocation marks a major milestone in the Board’s ongoing effort to modernize operations, expand public accessibility, and accommodate the changing and growing logistical demands of countywide election administration. The transition from the long-standing facility at 300 Garst Avenue directly addresses key operational bottlenecks, providing much-needed space for voters, election staff, and precinct election officials alike.

A primary driver for the move is the dramatic improvement in public access—most notably during peak Early Voting periods. In recent years, early in-person voting has seen increased turnout across Ohio, requiring a site capable of managing significant vehicle traffic and steady foot traffic. The new Wagner Avenue location offers expanded, easily navigable parking and a streamlined layout designed to shorten wait times and simplify the voting process for residents across Darke County.

In addition to enhanced voter access, the new building features a dedicated on-site training center. This multipurpose space will serve as a hub for training precinct poll workers ahead of each election cycle, as well as providing a community room as a modern venue for public educational sessions, board meetings, and outreach.

“The Board is greatly excited at the opportunities the new facility will present,” said Paul Schlecty, Director of the Darke County Board of Elections. “We’re grateful to our county partners who made this possible. We look forward to serving the community at the new facility during the upcoming November 3rd General Election and for many years to come.”

To ensure a seamless transition for the public and local political subdivisions, physical operations at 300 Garst Avenue will wrap up on August 24th. The Darke County Board of Elections will be closed to the public August 25th through 30th to carefully and securely transfer of administrative systems, voting equipment, and records. Operations will resume on August 31st at the new 603 Wagner Ave. location.
Residents, campaign representatives, and voters are advised to update their records to reflect the new primary address for all in-person voter registration updates, absentee ballot requests, candidate filings, and Early Voting activities.
