GREENVILLE – The Fort GreenveVille Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter is a proud partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration. We are privileged to honor and always remember Vietnam veterans, their families, and those listed on the Bears Mill Vietnam Memorial and the Wall in Washington, D.C.

The chapter recognizes those who served and returned home, those who are no longer among us, and their families, who endured untold sacrifices in supporting their service.

Saturday, the local DAR chapter honored the families of Robert E. Floyd.

Sgt. Robert E. Floyd was drafted into the United States Army and began his tour of duty on January 1, 1968. The Bradford native was born on May 15, 1947, and died on March 31, 1968, in South Vietnam.

“On behalf of a grateful Nation and the Department of Defense, we honor your patriotic service and the significant sacrifices you and your family made for the cause of freedom and democracy during the Vietnam War,” said DAR Regent Penny Weaver. “Thank you for being an enduring inspiration and example of duty, valor, honor, and dignity for the citizens of the United States of America. Our Nation is forever indebted to you and extends its deepest respect and admiration.”

“Thank you for the sacrifices you made that enabled your loved one to serve,” Weaver concluded.

The Greenville American Legion Honor Guard saluted our Fallen Hero, presenting The Colors, Three Round Gun Volley, and Taps.
