DARKE COUNTY – The Cupid Shuffle Valentine’s Dance was a perfect opportunity for seniors who attended the Social Dancing classes on Fridays with Dr. Tim and Michelle Kathman, as well as the line dancers who have been gathering on Wednesdays for lessons from Kevin Glueckert. Guests had a great time enjoying the music and dancing freely, although we were watching and taking plenty of photos. You can find these pictures on our Facebook page.
Dancing proved contagious, prompting the scheduling of another event: the Senior Prom at Birchwood on Friday, April 17th, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. This prom’s theme is “April in Paris,” with further information to follow soon.
The Darke County Senior Center exists to provide opportunities for fellow seniors to remain active physically, mentally, and socially. The senior center is a place where maturity is respected and community is nourished by offering recreational activities, workshops, and social networking. With that in mind, we offer movies, dancing, learning, game playing, Bingo, and an abundance of exercise options.
Since there are as many different interests as there are people, there will be a social hour on Thursday, March 12th, from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm entitled, “Getting to Know You”. This is a chance for people to check out what is happening at the Senior Center without the obligation to join. We would like to get to know you and your interests and discover what the center can provide for you.
Two events that require advanced registration by March 5th and March 6th, respectively, are “Healthy Skin Through the Years: Tips, Truths, and a Little Irish Luck” and “Family Fun Night & Trivia.” *RSVP by signing up at the Senior Center or texting Wally at (508) 789-3884, or Mary at (937) 423-2565.
“Healthy Skin Through the Years: Tips, Truths, and a Little Irish Luck” Join us on Thursday, March 12th at 1:00 pm when Erica Morgandale from Heritage Assisted Living presents an informative session on maintaining healthy skin and feet as we age. Erica will offer practical advice, discuss common facts about aging skin, and share key details regarding Medicare coverage for skin and foot care. As an added bonus, enjoy St. Patrick’s Day–themed snacks!
There’s no limit to class size and no fee to attend, though donations are welcome. RSVP by March 5th *.
“Family Fun Night & Trivia” We invite you to join fellow members and guests for an enjoyable evening featuring trivia, card games, board games, and more. The trivia competition will be challenging, so participants are encouraged to come prepared. Prizes will be awarded to winners. Attendees are welcome to bring a family member or guest (aged 18 or older). Complimentary snacks will be provided courtesy of our event sponsor.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Kettering Home Care for their generous sponsorship of this event. We look forward to seeing lots of families.
There is no participation limit or fee; however, just RSVP by March 6th*.
Remember, we are still in the winter months, and weather conditions can change schedules in the blink of an eye. Follow the Darke County Seniors on Facebook, where any such cancellations or updates are promptly posted. And don’t forget the time change occurson Sunday, March 8th.
