GREENVILLE – The Crowing Coops 4-H Club had a successful time at The Great Darke County Fair! Our members worked really
hard all year on their projects, and it was exciting to see everyone’s hard work pay off during fair week.
We were very proud to have three of our members represent Darke County at the state level with their
Youth Building projects. Jacob O’Conner, Grant Moore, and Lilly Hawkins all earned the opportunity to
represent our county. Jess and Tucker King also represented our club during the Cloverbud Review.
Our members did great with their animal projects, too! Ellie Walker won first place in showmanship in the
Rabbit Barn. In the Poultry Barn, Penn Bubeck had an amazing fair, winning Grand Champion Tom Turkey
and Reserve Meat Entry of the Barn. Grant Moore and Lilly Hawkins also won their divisions in poultry
showmanship.
Several of our members were recognized for their hard work and willingness to help others throughout the
fair. Tate Monnin, Wyatt Beam, Larissa Walker, Bre Walker, and Grant Subler received either the
Herdsman Award or Going the Extra Mile Award. Lux Bubeck had a great week as well and finished
third place Overall Exhibitor.
Crowing Coops members showed that their talents go far beyond the animal barns. Tessla Fourman
earned a win with her flowers in the Horticulture Department.
We were especially proud of all of our poultry exhibitors. Our club had members place on Champion Row
in every class in the Poultry Barn! That was a huge accomplishment for our club.
The Poultry Barn also held a coop decorating contest along with poster and picture contests. Many Crowing
Coops members participated and brought home awards. It was fun seeing everyone use their creativity and
make the barn look great.
Ethan Subler represented both the Poultry Barn and Junior Fairboard very well. He helped keep the poultry
show organized and running smoothly and was always willing to help wherever he was needed.
Our club also received a Grade A on our Crowing Coops booth in the Youth Building! Everyone worked
together to make our booth something we could be proud of.
The Great Darke County Fair is about more than winning ribbons. It is about working hard, learning new
things, helping each other, and making memories with our 4-H friends. We are very proud of everything our
Crowing Coops members accomplished this year.
We had a great fair, and we are already looking forward to next year!
