COVINGTON – The Lady Buccaneers hosted the Tri-Village Lady Patriots, last year’s OHSAA DIV State Champions to open 2023-2024 high school basketball scrimmage play.

“We don’t have much in so we didn’t run much that we have,” said Covington coach, Shawn Naff. “It was more conditioning, getting up and down the floor against a team we don’t know. It was more about conditioning tonight and getting to play somebody else instead of ourselves.”

The Lady BUCCS have a large group of returning lettermen from a successful 14-11 season including two OHSAA 2022-2023 tournament wins before falling to perineal powerhouse Fort Loramie.

“We have seven returning lettermen so we are very experienced with four new freshmen coming in,” said Naff. “I think they can contribute.”

Coach Naff looks to implement a new look for the upcoming varsity season.

“We have all new stuff,” Coach Naff stated. “We have some same motion but mostly new but we didn’t run much of that today. It’s not been on film yet so we are going to save that.”

The Covington Lady BUCCS are a member of the Three Rivers Conference including Bethel, Lehman Catholic, Miami East, Milton-Union, Northridge, Riverside, and Troy Christian.
