PREBLE COUNTY Investigators have filed formal charges against an Eaton man related to a sex crimes investigation. Detectives interviewed Joseph Wade Guthrie (36) of Eaton on Sunday, July 13, 2025, related to accusations that he was covertly recording a juvenile while the juvenile was in a bathroom. This occurred in a residence and not in a public place.
Guthrie has been formally charged in Eaton Municipal Court with the following:
Illegal Use of a Minor or Impaired Person in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, 2nd Degree Felonies (2) Counts; Tampering With Evidence, a 3rd Degree Felony; Illegal Use of a Minor or Impaired Person in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, a 5th Degree Felony; Voyeurism, a 5th Degree Felony; and Grooming, a 1st Degree Misdemeanor.
Bond was set by the court and Guthrie has posted bond. Guthrie is currently serving as a trustee with Gasper Township.
