County Schools Renew Resource Officers

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ June 23, 2026 public session started at 9:30 a.m., with Commissioners Aultman, Flatter, and Combs present. The reading of the minutes from June 18th was first and approved, and the examination and allowance of bills for June 23RD was next. The General Fund total was $6,463.78. The outside General funds were $180,074.80, and the total was $186,538.58 and was approved.

The Grants Dept. had a fund advance for the 2024 CDBG grant. The advance was for Flory Landscaping for tree removal in Palestine. The amount was $32,250.

The Opoid Settlement Committee allotted $25,000.00 to the Coalition for a Healthy Darke County, and $25,000.00 to The Wayne Healthcare Foundation for Mental Health programs. 

The Commissioners authorized a contract to America’s Decorative Concrete for the Palestine Main Street Sidewalk Replacement, Phase III. The total will be $81,834.64. Then, a notice to proceed was issued to start the contract on June 23rd and complete it by August 15th, 2026.

A letter of support was sent to ODOT regarding the roundabout to be constructed at the intersection of St. Rte. 36 and St. Rte. 721. The letter supported using concrete in the construction of the roundabout. 

A Lease Agreement was approved between the Commissioners and Edison State Community College. The 5-year agreement runs from July 1, 2026, until June 30, 2031. This agreement is renewable, and the payment for the first 72 months will be $9,707.06 a month.

Perry Pro Tech and the Darke County Juvenile/Probate Court signed a 60-month lease agreement at $350.83 per month for a new printer.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office signed new agreements with the following 5 County schools to provide resource officers for the next school year. The school districts are Ansonia, Bradford, Franklin Monroe, Mississinawa Valley, and Tri-Village. For the 2026 portion of the school year, beginning August 31st through December 31st, the sum of $41,684.48 will be sent to the Sheriff’s Office in two payments of $20,842.24, beginning 9/15/2026 and 12/15/2026. For the 2027 portion of the 2026/2027 School year, from January 1st through May 31st, the sum of $54,293.00 will be sent to the Sheriff in two payments of $27,146.50 on 3/15/2027 and 6/15/2027.
