DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ regular Tuesday morning meeting, February 3, 2026, started at 9:31 a.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from January 29,, 2026.
The Examination and Allowance of bills dated February 3 were presented. The General Fund was $51,585.33, and the Outside General Funds were $72,627.71, totaling $124,213.04. They were approved.
Darke County Ditch Maintenance had a fund transfer of $67,350.22 for maintenance expenses for 2026.
Revenue and Appropriation increases for the 2025 TB Grant were approved. The increase was $1,665.57 and was approved.
A maintenance agreement was approved between Greenville Township and the County, similar to the other agreements already reached.
An agreement between SME from Hilliard, Ohio, and the Darke County Grants deptment for 124 Cross Street in Palestine was presented. This is part of the Brownfield grant and was estimated to cost $130,000.00.
Mikesell Excavating was awarded their bid of $67,707.00 for the 2024 Demo and Site Revitalization program phase II base bid for three properties.
A Certificate of Appointment was awarded to Craig Prenger as Social Services Worker for Darke County JFS. The appointment takes effect on the 17 of February 2026.
The Sheriff and the Veterans offices submitted expense requests. The Sheriff for Jacob Pepple for attending First Line Supervision classes at Clark State in Springfield on April 7-10. The total cost was $770.00. The Veterans office presented a request for $400.00 so Thomas Pitman, Var Gehron, Kriann Franck, and Cynthia Bruner could attend the OSACVSO Winter Conference in Dublin, Ohio on March 7, 2026. Both were approved.
The Recorder’s office submitted an old Computer monitor for disposal. It was approved.
A Copy of the County Engineer’s Annual Report for 2025 was presented. Copies are available at the Engineer’s office in the Courthouse.
