GREENVILLE – The City of Greenville added three Greenville Senior High School graduates to its force with a Monday morning swearing-in ceremony, with Seth Conway and Braden Russell joining the Greenville Police Department. Also, Kamryn Hupman, a GHS alum, begins her employment as the new emergency communication operator.
“When I became Chief, one thing we talked about was finding those roots here in Greenville, those people that want to be here in Greenville, that love the community and are going to make a difference, and these two are a perfect fit for that,” said Greenville Police Chief Ryan Benge. “They grew up here, they are going to be invested in the community. I look forward to them being great officers here for a long time. We are very fortunate to have them, they are going to be a great asset to the community and to us as an agency.”
“I congratulate the City of Greenville Police Department,” said Greenville Mayor Jeff Whitaker. “They are trying to build a local police department with local guys, and they are doing a great job. They are investing in the community. They are charged with protecting our citizens, and I know they will do an outstanding job.”
Both Conway and Russell are 2018 graduates of Greenville Senior High School. Conway lettered in swimming and soccer for the Green Wave while Russell lettered in football and basketball for Greenville.
Conway and Russel recently graduated from the Edison State Community College Police Academy.
“The process has almost been a year now for me since initially interviewing, and it’s finally paying off,” said Conway. “I’m excited, it’s been really nice.”
“Returning to Greenville was my goal,” Russell stated. “I look forward to serving the residents of Greenville.”
“Kamryn just joined us today as an emergency communications officer,” Mayor Whitaker said. “I am confident she will do a great job as well, so welcome to all of them. We’re excited. Today is a big day.”
