DARKE COUNTY – Over the past year, a group of dedicated individuals has formed the Covered Horse Arena Committee with a shared vision to construct a covered arena at the Darke County Fairgrounds for the benefit of the local 4-H horse program.
After months of planning and organizing, the committee is officially launching its fundraising campaign with a community-wide event aimed at rallying support.
The kickoff event for their campaign invites residents of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of fun, food, and fundraising at the Greenville City Pool. The event is open to the public and will feature a variety of family-friendly activities.
- Event Highlights:
Admission: $10 per person for ages 7 and up, $5 for children under 7 - Free pizza will be provided for all attendees
- A 50/50 raffle and silent auction will offer chances to win prizes
- Pop and dessert will be available for purchase for $2
- The committee is also selling raffle tickets for a YETI cooler stocked with adult beverages, in addition to other useful and fun prizes
This fundraising kickoff is just one piece of a larger initiative. A portion of the committee has been running a Speed Show Buckle Series, with all proceeds going directly toward the covered arena project. The effort is a testament to the group’s commitment and creativity in raising the necessary funds.
The goal of the project is to provide a year-round, weather-protected space for youth in the 4-H horse program to learn, train, and compete. Committee members believe a covered arena would significantly enhance the safety, accessibility, and longevity of the program, while also ensuring the equine members are not 100% weather dependent if they get to show at their local fair.
