GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon to discuss a Radiation Protection Plan, terminating the contract with Sparling Corporation, and the service agreement with Aramark Uniform Services.

Commissioners Matt Aultman and Marshall Combs were present.

The board approved Resolution (R-397-2023). This authorizes the commissioners to put a policy in place for a Radiation Protection Plan.

“We received a call from another county wanting to know if we had one; the state wants everyone to get one set up,” Administrative Clerk/Secretary Robin Bliss said.

“This pertains to our X-ray machines; we have one in the Courthouse now, and we have one in the Sheriff’s office,” Commissioner Matt Aultman said. “This is for anyone using, walking, being around them. It gives them what’s covered, responsibilities for testing, things like that. We took it right off the state’s website.”

The board then approved a notice of termination of the contract with Sparling Corporation for the Procurement and Installation of Skid Mount Fuel Farm for the Darke County Airport. The contract terms stated that there would be a completion date within 270 days from the execution of the contract, and Sparling Corporation has done no work. The commissioners have terminated the contract and demanded the return of the $94,475 deposit.

The board also approved a Service Agreement with Ditch Maintenance and Aramark Uniform Services. This updated the agreement that was approved on October 13, 2023. The agreement now has a minimum charge of $5 a week if the service is reduced or there is no service, and the agreement will last for 36 months.
