GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon to approve grants and offer support to the Darke County Sheriffs’ Department. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were present.
The board approved a Community Corrections Grant Agreement between the Ohio Department of Rehab and Corrections and Darke County Adult Probation.
This agreement grants $419,848 to the Community Corrections Grant and $178,251 to the Targeted Community Alternatives to Prison.
“This helps operate our probation department, helps operate the men’s club and programs like that,” Commissioner Aultman said. “Some of the funds also go back to the sheriff’s office.”
The board then approved a Consulting Service Agreement with Key Funding Services, Inc. This is for the Village of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Water Tower Replacement project.
The Local Public Agency will pay the Consultant $75 per hour. Services requested will be at most $12,000.
The funding for these services has been given in the PY2022 CDBG Critical Infrastructure grant budget.
The board then approved a letter of support for the Darke County Sheriff’s Department.
This letter supports the efforts to secure funding for the fitting and operating of vehicle-locating equipment. This is in the interest of deputy safety.
“The funding is going to go for wireless equipment inside the vehicles, plus it also has a tracking ability,” Commissioner Aultman said. “It updates our fleet so we can track our staff and our vehicles.”
“With Darke County being such a large county, the deputies can also see where each other are at all times,” Commissioner Combs said.
“This is going to be an upgrade for officer safety while they are out in the field,” Commissioner Holmes said.
