GREENVILLE—The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the CIC Business of the Year, 2022 building demolition revitalization grant and more. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs and Larry Holmes were present.
The board approved Resolution (R-121-2023) for a fund advance of $22,050 toward the demolition of a couple of abandoned homes in Bradford. Funds from the 2022 building demolition revitalization grant will advance back once received.
“This brings benefits to the community,” Commissioner Holmes said. “I think there are about 19 projects interested in this next time so it’s nice to see.”
Next, the board approved two certificates of employment. They approved Angela Randall join the Darke County Job & Family Services, effective May 9, 2023, as an eligibility referral specialist.
The board then approved Julie Tipton to join the Michael’s Resource and Treatment Center, effective May 8, 2023, as a residential counselor supervisor.
Commissioner Holmes and Aultman noted this is the first time since COVID-19 that the Michael’s Home and DC Job & Family Services is at full employment.
Lastly, the board approved a journal entry acknowledging Zechar Bailey Funeral Homes as the Darke County CIC Business of the Year.
Commissioner Aultman said the funeral homes have been in Darke County since the 40’s.
“They started out as an ambulance service for the community,” he said. “It was an ambulance service, and just naturally moved into the funeral home business. They’ve grown and changed over the years. They are now on their third generation. Congratulate them as business of the year from the commission board. I was glad to see them there.”
