
DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ March 5, 2026, regular meeting started at 9:39 a.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from March 3,2026.
The Examination and Allowance of bills dated March 3 and 5 were presented. The General Fund amount was $64,751.19, and the Outside General Funds were $72,086.45, for a total of $136,837.64. They were approved
An Update from OSU Extension was provided by Jessica Fisher.
An agreement with DLZ Architecture for the Sheriff’s Office Jail Feasibility Study for $58,000.00 was approved.
Three Fund Advances for the Grants Dept. were next. First was the 2024 Brownfield Grant for Treaty Lanes for $16,905.50, to cover SME professional services, the 2025 FAA Box Hangar grant for $108,333.83 for Level MB pay app No. 6 was next. Finally, the same grant was corrected on February 19 by $9000.00 due to an incorrect amount.
Five expense requests from the H.R., Sheriff’s Department, and the J.F.S. were approved. Lynda York from the H.R. Dept. will be attending the BWC Safety conference in Columbus, March 10-12 , for $920.00. The Sheriff’s Dept. is sending Rachel Prickett and David Hawes to Loveland, Ohio, for the CVSA Examiner recertification course for $1,353.18. Brandon Peters from the Sheriff’s Office is going to Columbus, March 9-20, for the Ohio State Patrol Crash Reconstruction Course for $700.00. Adam Crumley from the Sheriff’s Dept. is going to Clark State July 13-21 for 56 hours of instructional skills. Finally, Michelle O’Connor, Angela Miller, and Scott Warren will go to Westerville on March 27 for JFS to the Ohio Coalition for Adult Protective Services. The total cost is $410.00
A Tourism Initiative for Eldora Speedway to enhance safety equipment was introduced by the Commissioners to Representatives Susan Manchester and Angie King to support the Speedway’s continued growth and serve as a valuable economic tool for the County.
A lease with Geoff Surber for 684 Wagner Avenue for 10 months at a total cost of $10,500.00 was approved. The dwelling houses the Darke County Solid Waste Dept.
A Certificate of Appointment for Kirk Detling to be a Kennel Worker at the Animal Shelter, effective on March 9th, was approved.
A rate-of-pay change for Darke County Airport Director Scott Naas was approved, effective March 9.

The Commissioners signed a 4-H Week proclamation for Darke County, March 8th-14th, before the session started.
