GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon.

Commissioners Matthew Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were all present.

Commissioners approved a Proclamation, proclaiming November 2024, as ‘National Hospice & Palliative Care Month’.

“During this month, there is a focus on the importance of comfort and quality of life for people facing serious illness. It is also a good time to recognize the hard work of our caregivers, who make sure patients get the best care possible.”

Under Resolution (R-421-2024), the Examination and Allowance of Bills dated November 26, 2024, were read and approved. The General Fund was $106,988.34; outside general funds were $323,475.34, for a Grand Total of $430,463.68.

Commissioners approved to appoint Commissioner Aultman to OneOhio Region 15 for a three-year term. The Region 15 Board will consist of 27 members with 3 representatives from each county. One representative from the Board of Darke County Commissioners, one for the municipalities of Darke County, and one for the Darke County townships.

Brian Phillps will be filling the seat for the Darke County townships and Marcus Ballinger will be filling the seat for municipalities of Darke County. The term will be effective from 1/1/2025 through 12/31/27.

Commissioners also approved a conflict of interest waiver with Crown Castle (“Crown”) – Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP.

“Crown Castle (“Crown”) has asked Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP to represent it in connection with the review and negotiation of a lease amendment for a cell tower site located at 7670 Celina Road in Greenville, Ohio with Darek County Commissioners. As you know, Taft represents Darke County (the “County”) in matters unrelated to the Lease matter, which creates a potential conflict of interest that requires your waiver.”

Commissioner Aultman also shared that they were notified on behalf of the Brownfield Grants that they were approved for the following assessments $300,000 for the Treaty Lanes on Sweitzer Street, $300,000 for the Treaty Industrial Building on 501 Gray Avenue, and $249,000 for the old Hamilton Lot, North of Sherman-Williams Paints.

These grants will be for the assessments only and upon assessments will determine further funding needed for clean-up measures.

The Darke County Board of Commissioners meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 pm.
